about me

I’m Matt, and my goal is to document my life as a regular dude, teacher, and growth as an entrepreneur here in Thailand for friends and family.

Back in 2007/2008 I was working to get a Florida teaching license. After getting it, all I needed to do was get hired as a teacher and things would be good. Then the economic crass of 2008 hit Florida. For years i jumped between crappy low paying jobs and people not really caring about the fact that I had a bachelors degree to give me a respectable pay grade. Growing into my late 30’s I knew I needed to do something because I wasn’t living the type of life you dreamed of.

That is when I starting to think about Teaching like a business. With business, you look for a demand. There wasn’t a demand for Teachers in my area of Florida. That is why I looked for countries where there was a demand for Teachers. My first country was Indonesia. After that I moved to Thailand and I’ve been staying here ever since.

Me with some of my kids and my co-Thai-teacher posing after we finished doing a Christmas play. It was in a Catholic School with….. wait for it……. 95% Buddhists.

I’ve had a youtube channel since I’ve started this thing out, and now I want to step up my game.

I want this blog to be more than just telling stories, uploading videos and pictures. I want this to be a resource for teachers to come over here and live a good life. Not just for teaching but for making extra money online.

Update from May 2017

Well, I have prostate cancer, stage four that is. It’s not terminal but it’s not going to stop me from kicking ass and living a good quality of life. You’ll see from future postings on this blog.

When it is my time to go, I’m taking it with me, it’s not taking me. 🙂
